Pomme in April
by redbirds1 on Feb 05, 2011
Pomme De Terre is comprised of two major rivers and three major creeks. The two rivers are the Lindley and the Pomme. The creeks are Stinking, Decker, and Possum. I would take a look at what your strengths are and format your fishing around that. If you like to fish shallow, the rivers can be excellent as half of the fish should be done spawning up there. So much can determine the approach at that time of year including water levels, generation, and fronts. It is so early to start figuring out a decisive plan. I would start my research now looking at the lake map around the mid lake area on both river sides and focus on flat pockets and spawning coves. Determine which coves have swings, ledges, and ditches. The fish will be in or near these pockets and you will want to know their escape routes and "pull back" areas. The mid-lake should provide you with the opportunity to fish for all three stages of spawning fish this time of year. I hope that this helps. This is the approach that I start with when I research a new lake that I will be fishing in April.

You can expect to have high water levels in April. The COE is not releasing any water until May. On Pomme that means only one thing bushes.

like Dancox said, typically Pommey is high in the spring which makes the flooded buck brush a big factor in the fishing. You must be signed in to leave a comment. Already have an account? Sign In. New to MoBassFishin'? Sign Up Today. |
Well I know its really early but I want to get all the information I can before the tourney, and it only being the second year on the tournament scene I've never been to Pomme. April 10 2011 out of Little Button Cove. I have a general idea of what is going to be happening, but having never been on the lake I have no idea of what to expect.
All info will be greatly appreciated.
