Mozingo Lake is located in Nodaway County, 3 miles east of Maryville on US 136.
The Lake
Construction of the lake began in 1991, and was completed in 1992. Mozingo Lake is a long, narrow lake covering 1006 acres, with a maximum depth of over 40 feet. What began, as a watershed reservoir for the citizens of Maryville, has since grown into a recreation destination. Mozingo's amenities continue to grow and develop along the 26 miles of shoreline in the 3,000 acre park.
Recreation
Excellent facilities include 3 concrete boat ramps, a disabled accessible floating fishing dock, privies, and a fish cleaning station at the main dock.
Fishing
Mozingo Lake offers quality fishing opportunities for largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, and walleye. Thirteen large brushpiles were made during construction of the lake, and the lake contains numerous coves of standing timber. Brushpiles have been installed by the Missouri Department of Conservation to add additional fish habitat.
The fishery is managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Ponds in the lake basin were initially stocked with bluegill and channel catfish in 1993, and the lake received its main initial stocking of largemouth bass and bluegill in 1994. In 1996, walleye were introduced into the lake, and have been stocked every three years since.
Camping
Mozingo Park offers 50 spacious hard surfaced RV pads, overlooking Mozingo Lake. Each site has 50 amp electricity and water. A modern bathhouse with laundry facilities are conveniently located at the campground. Trailer dump stations are located near the bathhouse. Primitive tent camping with bathhouse are also available.
