The Leavenworth Bass Club held its' 9th tournament of the 2010 season at Truman Lake on Sunday, 13 June launching from the Long Shoal Corp Ramp at 5:30 A.M. and weighing in at 2:00 P.M.. In recent weeks Truman had been producing heavy sacks and most believed it would be a good day of fishing. With 5 nice limits coming to the scales on Saturday and a good strong bite up shallow in the flooded bushes most looked to fill the boat with quality fish on Sunday. But as luck would have it Mother Nature always has a vote and the cloudy rainy conditions from previous day turned to blue bird skies, hot, humid, and not much wind. The main lake, Grand and Osage arms were stained while the Tebo Creek and Pomme arms were clear to slightly stained. The day began with clear skies and mid 70 temps and quickly climbed to the low 90s. The 9 boats and 18 anglers that fished the tournament weighed in about half of the previous days weight with 50.85 lbs of bass a 2.83lb per angler average.

Taking 1st place was Bob Jorgensen with two fish that weighed 7.37lbs. Bob's sack was anchored by a nice 4.28lb fish that was good for the boater big bass. Bob fished the lower Grand Arm and reported only 2 bites on the day. Both fish fell for a Yum dinger; one in flooded willows (5 ft), and the bigger one on pole timber (8 ft).

Taking 2nd place was Ray Cates from the back seat of Bob Jorgensen's boat with a two fish that weighed 6.63 lbs. Ray's bag was anchored by the non boater big bass a nice 4.83lb fish. Ray caught his fish flipping Yum Dingers as well. Bob and Ray were on the right quality of fish for sure. If the event was a team tournament, they would have had 14lbs on 4 fish. Great job fellas on a very tough day.
Taking 3rd place was one of the newest LBC members John Carroll fishing from the back seat of Bill Gevedon's boat with two fish that weighed 6.27 lbs.
Taking 4th place was Danny Lee with two fish that weighed 5.42 lbs.
Taking 5th place was Ray Hillebrand with a two fish that weighed 5.92 lbs. Ray fished Tebo creek around Windsor crossing. Ray caught one keeper on a buzzbait early along a transition bank where the deep bank transition to a flat. Ray's second keeper came off a bluff and fell for a Senko type stick worm.
The Leavenworth Bass Club's next tournament is on 17 July at Mozingo Lake. As you can see there are a lot of opportunities to catch fish with The Leavenworth Bass Club. The LBC welcomes all skill levels from those who are ready to challenge their bass catching skills against some of the best local anglers in the area or those who are just looking to improve their success rates and angling skills and want to learn from a bunch of folks who truly love the sport.
